    Teletubbies move to being mediocre

The Teletubbies have moved from being absolutely pathetic to being mediocre in just one short week – Watch This Space !

After last weeks magnificent victory against Sam Herbert, our Captain, Dave Tubbylunch decided to lead the way.

    Act I:
Tubbylunch wobbled this way and that
And he reached 10 in no seconds flat
    But then Findlay woke up
    The Spindly young Pup
And pounced on the ball like a cat

So the end was not far away
    As Tubbylunch started to sway
He was two down and dying
He was sick and tired of trying
So he fell over and called it a day

    Act II:
Then Railton the Ringer, he came
And PJ showed he had no shame
He said “please give me five”
    “Just to keep it alive”
But he lost the first game just the same

Then he tried starting from six
And the Ringer went along just for kicks
But the match was soon done
    The Ringer had won
And he’d done it without any nicks

    Act III:
Now the moment you’re all waiting for
The man that you all adore
    I arrived on the court
    My T-shirt too short
And a tummy too close to the floor

I was playing some tall youth from Kloof
    Who started off somewhat aloof
It was done in a flash
    Don’t thank me, send cash
And that’s the end of this spoof

    Act IV:
    Our majestic, athletic young Braden
Danced around the court like a Maiden
He lost one, got two back
    Then started to slack
It looked like our hero was Fadin’

He came back and was smashing that ball
He was trying to avoid feeling small
    But his opponent XL
    Sent him swiftly to Hell
But so politely that he enjoyed the fall.

    Act V:
Poor Rudolph like a lamb to the slaughter
Was getting thrashed by this tall drink of water
    Trying to stem the flow
    Cut serves to and fro
Serving out when he shouldn’t ought’er

Like a Phoenix from the ashes he rose
Winning the next two – Strike a Pose
    That gallant bloke
    Unfortunately did choke
And he just lost the fifth by a nose.

Highway Summer League – Week 1 Highlights

Teletubbies Viciously Assaulted by 5 Chicks and a Stick

    Tellytubbies                                                                        Sam’s Angels

1 Dave “Obese – Wan – Kenobi ” Tubbylunch  vs     Sam “Hits Like a Girl” Herbert
2 Keith “Puke Shytalker” Wilson                   vs     Chris “The Stick” Woodgate
3 Braden “C 3 Peed Off” Clark                       vs     Karen “The Smiling Assasin” Bishop
4 Adrienne “Princess Pleia” Morck                vs      Moira “Strong Arm” Armstrong
5 A N “Yoda Man” Other                              vs      Jill”Cut Serve” Simmons

A terrible day in Teletubby history.  Soaring temperatures, bulging tummies and some very distracting attire being worn by the opposition (especially Chris).

First up was “Princess Pleia”, playing brilliant tight squash, commanding the T and unlucky to be narrowly beaten 3 – 0 due to the numerous frame shots of her opponent  Moira “Strong Arm” Armstrong and some dodgy marking by Obese Wan Kenobi.

Second on court was “Puke Shytalker” famous for his photographic modelling work as the “Before” picture in slimming tablet adverts.  In the first game, he was magnificent.  Moving around the court like Teflon coated lightning while Chris “The Stick” gasped for breath and gazed in awe at “Puke’s” superb strokeplay.  Sadly, it was best of 5 and by the end of the 4th game “Puke” almost lived up to his name.

Third was our Banker, “C 3 Peed Off”.  Playing with robotic efficiency he systematically dismantled “The Smiling Assasin’s” game (well one game anyway – curse that best of 5 rule).  Then “The Assasin” (with only the occasional smile) started cheating by hitting nicks and playing tight drives that unfairly died in the back corners.  Our brave intrepid No.3 carried on playing valiantly and fairly, hitting loose cross courts and half court lobs, like any Gentleman playing a Lady would.  Sadly, his chivalry was rewarded with contempt.  And she seems like such a nice girl off the court.

Fourth was our secret weapon.  So secret, in fact, that I don’t even know his name.  Lean & Mean and can bench press 150 kgs with one hand.  Halfway through the first game the mysterious “Yoda Man” was narrowly ahead by 17 Cut Serves to 13.  Sadly though, he was 7 – 0 behind on the scoreboard (soon to be 11 – 3).  “Yoda Man” wrestled for ascendency but was pinned in 3 as Silly Jilly Cut Served her way to victory.

Fifth, and thank heavens, last on court was our beloved leader, Obese – Wan – Kenobi.  As the floorboards groaned in protest Obese Wan blasted his way to a convincing victory in the first & second games.  The 3rd game however was a much closer affair which forced Obese Wan to adopt new tactics and  suddenly, “Hits Like a Girl” Herbert seemed to be struggling for breath as Obese Wan sucked all the oxygen off the court as he panted his way around the T.  The only victory of the night going to our fearless leader.

Thank you to the Bevy of Beautiful girls (ours and theirs) for making Lahee Park more scenic than it’s ever been.  And we forgive you for winning (not you Chris !!! – eat some hamburgers you skinny sod!!!).

    Teletubbies Drool OK !

Referee Report back Jarvis /Kaplan 2012

    Referees Jarvis 2012

Excellence is not an event but a habit, and as an embodiment to the future……

If the applause at the final function for the referees is anything to go by, then I look back on our habit of trying to build a professional refereeing body that adds value and gives a top notch service to our players….  Then Jarvis/ Kaplan 2012 will be remembered as the breakthrough year for team referee and the acceptance of the players that a sporting event like Jarvis, like any other sporting event has as its inclusion…. officials whose main task is to give a fair result.

    KZN Men in final

The expected final, winner takes all, match-ups have materialised in the Jarvis and Kaplan Cups.

No.1 seeds and defending champions KwaZulu-Natal beat Northerns 5 – 0 to set-up a Friday cracker versus 2nd-ranked Western Province. Steve Coppinger completed the whitewash with a 3 – 1 win over Kelvin Ndhlovu after the Zambian has won the opener. The marquee match of the day produced some breathtaking squash which was enjoyed by the massive crowd at Pretoria Country Club.

Province’s Rudi Willemse fought back from two games down to defeat Easterns’ John Argyle before Shaun le Roux turned over veteran Craig van der Wath 3 – 0 to secure the 5 – 0 win.

The tournament rules state that a team that wins all their fixtures will claim the cup regardless of the overall points situation. However, in the race to stave off relegation every game will count as Northerns, Easterns and Border hope to avoid the drop.

JARVIS CUP STANDINGS – A SECTION

    1. KWAZULU-NATAL                    77 2. WESTERN PROVINCE               75 3. CENTRAL GAUTENG                 51 4. NORTHERNS                            28 5. BORDER                                 24 5. EASTERNS                              24

South African Country Districts A team continued their B section domination with a clinical 5 – 0 triumph over Northerns B. The men drawn from the out-lying provinces are 23 points clear of KZN B and Free State A and should wrap up promotion on the final day.

XXV CLUB TROPHY STANDINGS – B SECTION

    1. SA COUNTRY DISTRICTS A       77 2. KWAZULU-NATAL B                   54 2. FREE STATE A                          54 4. CENTRAL GAUTENG B               43 5. MIDLANDS A                            26 6. NORTHERNS B                          21

Nothing much changed in the Kaplan Cup as Northerns and Central Gauteng stayed on course for a titanic title-deciding clash at Harlequins. The top ladies encounter of the afternoon saw fellow English ladies; Emma Bedoes and Lauren Siddall face off in Pretoria. After having played each other on numerous occasions around the world, it was the World No.21 who prevailed 3 – 1 to give her team Central Gauteng a 5 – 0 victory over Easterns.

Meanwhile, Northerns and Western Province also recorded 5 – 0 wins as the Cape Town side climbed back above Eastern Province into 3rd place.

Despite their 16 point deficit, the Joburg ladies will lift the Cup if they beat the hosts. Either Easterns or SACD are in danger of being relegated.
